Technology

Teachers and Technology

I agree completely with Mrs. Hines views on technology in the classrooms. Mrs. Hines feels that in the 21st century teachers have to do more than teach. The have to also be learners. Such as if a teacher has repeatedly taught a lesson to a student as they still have not comprehended it, then the teacher must give another approach. They must learn the ways in which the student learns. As Mrs. Hines said a teacher has not taught anything if the student does learn anything. She also states that a teacher should not rely on computers to do the teaching for them, they should use the computers as help with their lessons.

I also feel that technology should be used to help students learn material easier. Computers also have ways in which the knowledge can be kept longer and able to be recalled better. These are ways that would help teachers become better teachers. The only important thing is that the students learn.

Technologically Illiterate

Karl Fisch is saying the same thing as Mrs. Hines. He is saying that a technological illiterate teacher is not a good one. He puts a lot of praise in teachers who know technology. He says that technology should be used as a tool in the classroom and not the whole teaching base for the lesson.

The teacher should teach the lesson but must also have a good knowledge for technology. Computers can really help students grasp the lesson better. I completely agree with other points that Mr. Fisch made.

Media Count

This is very awesome. If you are a teacher without any knowledge of technology and the mass media connected to it then you wont succeed.

  1. Hello, Tashley! You made some very good points; I can see the similarities between Hines and Fisch better now after reading this - before I thought they would be more opposed to each other, but I guess when you only consider the students actually LEARNING, that's all that really matters. Great job! Thanks for the insight.

  2. Tashley, great points your making. If a teacher is teaching a lesson, and the students aren't following, then there is no point. The teacher needs to have good knowledge of what is being taught so that the students as well as the teachers can learn from each other.

  3. "A teacher has not taught anything, if nothing is learned" That is my favorite quote from Mrs. Hines as well. I think all of our classmates agreed with Mrs. Hines, and her innovative teaching.

  4. I also agree with you on your post. The teacher must know how the techonology works before she can teach it to her students. Technology can greatly improve the classroom as long as the teacher is willing to use it.

  5. You have gotten 1 week behind in your posts. This class will be VERY PAINFUL if you do not catch up and stay caught up with your blog posts. Do it now! Soon it will be too late!

I have a bit of a different take on technology than the way you have put it. It seems to me that the teacher needs to encourage students to maximize their learning through the appropriate use of technology.

Do not get behind in your assignments!

  6. I agree with you that teachers should not rely on the technology to do the teaching for them yet incorporate technology in their lesson plan.
